Tell me a little bit about "A Lost Star Named Stella."
Stella is a sweet little star who loves to sparkle in the night sky. One night, she gets hopelessly lost in the dark. After meeting three different and equally unhelpful celestial bodies, Stella encounters the Bright Morning Star, who knows both her name and the way home. With musical rhyme, whimsical illustrations, and a tender ending, A Lost Star Named Stella is a darling faith-based picture book sure to warm young hearts and draw them closer to Him. Its beautiful pictures will captivate babies and adults alike, and its heartwarming message is relevant for all ages as well!
What inspired you to write this story?
Stella's story was inspired by Isaiah 40:26, which says, "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing."
What do you hope to achieve with your story?
I hope to encourage children and adults alike to follow God because He is willing and able to guide them along their life's journey. I also pledged to donate $1 from the sale of every ALSNS book to Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization dedicated to delivering happiness to seriously ill children and their families (see https://www.starlight.org/).
It is so heart-warming that you are donating $1 to the Starlight Children's Foundation! Was there a point when you wanted to give up on writing your book?
Yes, when I reached out to unresponsive or expensive publishers before I realized I could self-publish!
Congrats on taking your publishing journey into your own hands! What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Bake, read!, Pilates, catch up with friends, try new restaurants with my husband, travel, love on my kids.
Wonderful! What is your favorite part of the publishing journey?
Seeing my words come to life through illustrations.
